Quick Start

Welcome and Congratulations for choosing Authors Alley! You have just made the first step in getting the most out of your writing and we look forward to helping you succeed as an author. To get started, navigate to the books section and select add one now to add your first book. Fill out the required information, save, and bam, you have your first book online!

After the Book is saved, you may upload photos (up to three) and one primary image. Images are auto-resized for easy uploading.

To delete a photo, simply click on the desired image and select X. Now you can show off that fantastic cover art for your newly minted book!

Last but not least, view our membership options so you can begin selling your books online. Only with a paid membership can you process transactions via paypal. To upgrade from your free membership to a paid membership, simply go to account, move the account level slider to the appropriate membership level, and select change plan.

After selecting the appropriate paid membership level you will be directed to your invoice which will allow you to pay the fee and begin selling books immediately. Once you become a paid member, simply go to the settings section and enter your paypal email to receive payments from your book sales!

Dashboard

With Authors Alley, you get your own analytics dashboard giving you a powerful insight on your book marketing efforts. With the dashboard you can access the progress tracker and custom analytics designed to help you track visits, downloads, sales and more. After your initial setup of book information, your dashboard will give you access to daily progress. Simply login and navigate to the dashboard section to view your key statistics.

The dashboard graph displays key performance indicators including unique visitors, cart adds, sold books and downloads. As a breakdown, unique visitors include users who have viewed your profile and/or book counted once within the last 30 days, hence ‘unique’. Cart adds include each instance in which your book was added to the shopping cart (The book may or may not of been actually purchased). Sold Books are total purchases of your books. Downloads are number of PDF book downloads (if applicable). Collectively, these numbers paint a good picture of how your book marketing efforts are progressing, In addition, the timeframe for these statistics can be adjusted with the drop down immediately above the graph as pictured below. The X-Axis of the graph displays the selected date range while the Y-Axis displays Number of Visitors. You can also toggle your statistics between your main profile and books using the drop down next to length of time.

Amazon vs. Authors Alley

Books

With an Authors Alley paid membership, you can upload up to 10 books based on your plan type! To upload new books, simply go to the books section and click add new book. (The link will only be available if you have enough spots left to add new books) You will be able to add images to your book once you save your book for the first time.

To view all of your books, simply go to the books section. You will be able to view the public pages for each book here as well as click each book to edit the information and images for it.

Settings

You may change your profile picture, personal information, social media links, paypal email account and logo by simply navigating to the settings section. Edit your information, upload images, and save to instantly update your profile!

Account

Billing

All paid membership accounts will be billed every 30 days to your account beginning on date of signup. Each time you change your membership level, your membership will be automatically updated and payments will be adjusted based on usuage.

When changing your membership level, simply raise or lower the slider to the desired payment value. If you change your membership to a lesser payment option, the attributes of the more premium option will be removed accordingly. Depending on when your next payment is due, one of two things will be happen. If 15 days or less have passed since your last payment, your membership will be changed immediately. If 16 or more days have passed, you will still owe the full membership amount until the current month is over after of which your payment will be lowered to the new membership level.

Domains

Filling out a domain name registration form will have one of our representatives link a custom domin name to your account. You can find the form in your domain section of your profile

After setting up your paid membership, you can search for and buy available domains from the account section. Once you buy a domain, it will show up in the My Domain tab.
